When you started SureSmile®, you might’ve stumbled getting your aligner routine down. Caring for them has only become easier, and you are enjoying a smooth treatment. However, if you have a trip coming up, then you may wonder what you should do. After all, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to bring the whole setup you use. Here are three tips that can help make travelling with them a bit easier.
1.) Look Ahead at Your Treatment
If you are planning to be away from home for a couple of weeks or months, then you may be excited about it. You’ll be able to explore the area to its fullest! That being said, it’s crucial you bring extra aligners. Most patients have to swap to their next set every week or two. It helps keep their treatment on track, so the same goes for you!
Wearing the same tray for longer than planned can lead to delays. Keep them in a designated spot to ensure you always know where they are. Also, be sure to pack a more compact pouch of your dental essentials. Having a travel toothbrush, floss, mini mouthwash, and toothpaste can help ensure you have what you need to clean your smile after eating. Considering bringing an extra case as well!
2.) Have Spare Bottles of Water
Once you are ready to go, your next step is likely heading to the airport or starting the car. As you’re travelling, you may need to pop into different restrooms, whether it’s a lavatory or at a gas station. These may not be the most sanitary, and using the sink water may be a no-go for you. Instead, keep a couple of water bottles nearby! Use them when you need to, and you’re all set.
3.) Don’t Forget to Put Your Aligners In
Now that you are at your journey’s end, you may be lying back and relaxing. You’re getting to unwind after working hard. However, it’s important that you don’t let your new carefree nature affect your aligner routine! You’ll still need to wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day.
When you take them out to eat, set timers or alarms to remind you to put them back in. It’s easy to forget, so that push may be what you need to remember. There are also apps that people find useful, such as TrayMinder.
Travelling during your SureSmile® treatment doesn’t have to be a hassle. Instead, follow the tips above and have safe travels!
