Dr. Stacy Goodwill & Dr. Jessica Majidian understand that missing teeth can cause embarrassment, loss of dental function, and inhibit your overall physical wellbeing. At Cornerstone Dental we offer several different options for single tooth replacement, such as dental implants, crowns, and bridges to help restore your dental function and the natural look of your smile. During your initial consultation, our dental team will meet with you to discuss all the options available to you and help you decide which option is right for you.
To find out more information about which option would work best for you, contact (701) 237-3583 to book your appointment.
Are You a Candidate for Single Tooth Replacement? If you have experienced tooth loss from gum disease, tooth decay, or injury and have healthy remaining teeth, you are an ideal candidate for single tooth replacement. The greatest benefit to single tooth replacement is esthetically improving your smile, which can lead to a boost in confidence. It can also help improve your dental function and prevent further dental problems. When you lose a tooth, the remaining teeth can begin to shift, leading to gaps, TMJ, and other jawbone issues. When you come in for your initial consultation, Dr. Goodwill or Dr. Majidian will perform a comprehensive evaluation at our Fargo, ND practice to determine whether a dental implant or partial dental bridge is the best option for you.
Dental Implants for Single Tooth ReplacementA dental implant is considered the best, most esthetically pleasing, and long-term solution for replacing a single tooth. A dental implant will require Dr. Goodwill to surgically implant a titanium rod into your jawbone that will act as a root. Because of this, Dr. Goodwill will need to make sure that your jawbone and remaining teeth are strong enough to support the implant. In some cases, where there has been jawbone and gum recession, your dentist can perform bone grafting to help strengthen and prepare the area for the implant. Once your dental implant has healed properly, typically in a matter of four to six months, your dentist will create your custom-made crown and place it over the titanium rod to restore the sparkle to your smile.
Non-Implant Solutions for Single Tooth ReplacementFor patients who do not qualify for dental implants or are looking for a more cost-effective solution, there are other treatment options available such as:
- Tooth-supported Fixed Bridge: This involves grinding down healthy teeth on either side of the missing tooth in order to affix the bridge. Although a common and cost-effective alternative to dental implants, it is not as long-lasting.
- Removable Partial Dentures: This removal restoration is made from gum-colored acrylic and the tooth from ceramic to match the natural look of your smile. It is attached to the remaining teeth with metal clasps and supported by the gum ridge where the tooth once was. It is also more cost-effective than dental implants, but unlike a partial bridge, will not affect your remaining teeth.
