What to Expect at Your New Patient Experience Appointment
During your new patient appointment, you can expect us to conduct a brief interview and perform a thorough examination by evaluating the condition of your teeth and gums, temporomandibular joint, and supporting structures. We will also perform an oral cancer screening and take necessary diagnostic x-rays, which may include one or more of the following: panoramic and bitewing xrays. After we gather your dental information, we will determine what type of prophylaxis (cleaning) that is best suited for you. Our practice strongly recommends the use of Closys products, (toothpaste and rinse). These products will be introduced to patients with periodontal disease as part of oral hygiene instruction. Your dental information is presented to you so that you know the doctor’s findings and recommendations. Expect us to ask you how you feel about your smile and discuss any other concerns or questions you may have. Please allow up to 2 hours for this appointment.
If you have insurance we will send an electronic claim to your insurance company for you. Please be aware that insurance plans do vary as can the services they provide coverage for. If you would like detailed financial information pertaining to your appointment please contact us. If you do not have insurance, we will provide you with an estimate prior to the appointment. Again our goal is to provide unsurpassed oral health care to you.
We will need to start and maintain records for you in our practice. When you arrive for your appointment we will ask you to fill out a New Patient Form and Questionnaire as well as your medical history information. Please plan on arriving 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so we may complete any necessary paperwork. We look forward to seeing you soon!
The following are a few amenities we offer to make your visit more comfortable and informative:
Nitrous oxide (also known as laughing gas)
Casey Videos – patient education videos
Head phones for radio or MP3 player
What to Expect at Your Child’s First Dental Visit
We strive to make your child’s first appointment stress free by working with your child’s individual needs and comfort level. We find that each child has a different perception of what their first visit to the dentist will be like and that is why we look forward to the opportunity to create a comfortable atmosphere for your child.
Most experts recommend that you take your child to his/her first dentist appointment within about six months of his/her first tooth arrival or by the time they turn three.
Our doctors will look for decay and examine your child’s gums, bite and jaw. The hygienist may clean your child’s teeth and/or apply a fluoride varnish. Parents will have an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns.
